All my conversations with tech teams these days are centered around provisioning, accessing, authenticating and authorizing.

Imagine a scenario where unauthorized players get to read enterprise data that is sensitive — doesn’t that sounds like hacking[spamming, sniffing Malware phishing etc] and is indeed scary.

IDaaS is a cloud-based service model that enables enterprises to securely manage Access, Authentication and Authorization to their users, applications and devices.

IDaaS offers a multitude of services :

1. Single Sign-on [SSO]: Allows users to access multiple applications/services with the same set of credentials

2. Multi-Factor Authentication: An added layer where users must run through 2 or more identity checks for enhanced security

3. User Provisioning and de-provisioning: Roles allocation is critical in an org and must map properly as and when users change their persona. This module helps seamlessly handle such scenarios

4. Identity & Access Governance

5. Customer identity and access management (CIAM): Specific user scenarios for customer-facing apps and services

6. Reporting & Analytics

Latest Trends:

1. Passwordless authentication: Think of biometrics, Facial recognition, Fingerprint scanning etc

2. Zero Trust Security: No compromise at all, every touch point in the journey needs authentication and authorization

3. Integration with Cloud Services: As Cloud services grow IDaaS providers are offering seamless integrations with offering like AWS, Azure and GCP

4. Continuous adaptive authentication: Using AI to detect frauds and security threats

5. Privacy and Data Protection: With GDPR, CCPA and other regulations — IDaaS is also going mainstream with technologies like differential privacy i.e. data analysis while preserving individual privacy

WIN-WIN on both sides:

1. This assists the users to access multiple applications and systems with a single set of login credentials.

2. While administrators can manage access control to those applications and systems from a centralized location.

But that’s not all!

IDaaS also improves security and compliance by providing strong authentication and access control mechanisms. And since it’s a cloud-based service, one can quickly deploy and scale one’s identity and access management (IAM) solutions without having to worry about maintaining on-premises infrastructure/ Requiring a special workforce.

Some of the leading IDaaS providers include :

1. Okta

2. Microsoft Azure Active Directory (AAD)

3. Ping Identity

4. OneLogin

5. Auth0

6. Ubisecure

to mention a few

Are you IDaaS enabled — If Yes do let us know your partner and cheer for them.
